Today in History
In 1957, the President of the United States ordered the 101st Airborne to protect nine (9) black students in Little Rock, Arkansas. Additionally, the President federalize the Arkansas National Guard, so the Governor could not use them to oppose the US Army Airborne.
Two US Senators objected to the President enforcing a Federal Court order. Comparing the action to the Soviet invasion on Hungry in 1956.

On this day in 1957, Republican President Dwight Eisenhower ordered federal troops to Little Rock, Arkansas to insure the safety of the "Little Rock Nine" at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.
