11:11 11/11

The eleventh minute of the eleventh hour
of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,
the Great War  ended.

In American, we call it 'Veterans Day' to honor all who have worn the uniform, whether it was Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine or Coast Guard.

I am honored and humbled to be counted as a Navy veteran.
I served in Reagan's '600 ship Navy'.
I am not a combat veteran, nary a day of combat for me.

I have met many a WWII veteran, survivors of Pearl Harbor, Bataan Death March, Normandy, USS Franklin - Men who just did what had to be done.

I have met several Korean War veterans, one who was awarded the MOH for his actions, he was my barber in Concord, Ca. in the mid-1980's.

I have served with and met numerous Vietnam veterans.

My NROTC classmates fought the 1st Gulf War. I resigned my commision in April of 1990, received my discharge orders on Aug 2, 1990 (the very day Iraq invaded Kuwait.)

The children of my peers are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places today.
